Hi-
I know you are supposed to apply to AADSAS earlier rather than later. The thing is, I am waitlisted at one school, which I know is not really hopeful considering it is almost July, but I still want to wait until mid July to apply since I see movement on waitlists seem to be happening now and I want to see if I get off as well. Would it really make that big a difference to apply in 2 weeks vs now? I just see people getting off waitlists every day now on sdn (I have been reading the school specific discussions forum religiously) and I like to remain hopeful that that will be me. Again- I know earlier is better than later, but will a 2 week delay in July really make a big difference or is that still considered early? Thanks in advance for any help...

depends on what school you are speaking about.

Apply to 1 school now and get things rolling. You can always add schools later if necessary.

Thank you for your replies, I really appreciate it. It's a private school, so I'm hoping there will be movement now (beginning of July). Question is- if I need to apply to one school school early, shouldn't I just apply to all of them early? I want to increase my chances as much as possible at all schools I'm going to apply to and not risk it (I'm a reapplicant, so I feel I should apply to ~10 schools now). I feel like if need to apply to one, I need to apply to all. If I can realistically not hurt myself by pushing off my application a couple of weeks until mid July, I want to do that. See what I am saying- this is why I just don't know what to do. I don't know if I am hurting myself if I wait a little...

well if its a private school, you have a higher probability relative to public schools. But like I said, without the specific school at hand, you wont be able to get the best answer. When did you interview at this private school? When were you waitlisted? Is the private school on the expensive side relative to other private schools?

I am in the same boat. I called the school and they said most of waitlist movement is in July. But I applied June 1st anyways because I wasn't going to take the chance of waiting. Remember if you wait til mid-July schools won't see your app until august and thats starting to get late.

interviewed feb, waitlisted march, and not sure if it's expensive relative to other private schools (i thought all private schools are on the expensive side). admissions said the waitlist is "short," but i don't know what that means, and i don't want to put all my eggs in that basket. i just want to know if my chances for next year are really less if i push off my application a couple of weeks at this point in the application cycle.

If i were you, I would apply to the TOP PRIORITY SCHOOLS ( schools you have the highest chance of admission) right now, and then wait it out for maybe 2 weeks and apply to the other schools then. What state are you from?

You should apply now

I understand that you have been wait-listed and there are possibility of getting in to the school. But AADSAS application with applying to 1 school is ~$250 and it is well worth it, just in case if the wait-list didn't move at all.

I think $250 is well worth it for not being late-applicant to have good chance for this cycle (just in case)

Good luck

thanks everyone for your help. i will take your advice and apply to some schools now and not wait. i currently have 10 schools on my applicatoin and want to cut it down for now. i live in nj- any advice on schools i should apply to now besides umdnj? i have high dats- my gpa is the prblem. i am going to start graduate school this fall semseter to make up for it and plan to update my application after grades come in. also- should i apply to the school i am waitlisted at?

what is ur DAT and what is ur gpa?

I would just call the school and try to talk to someone in the admissions office and tell them how much you want to go to that school, do whatever it takes to be accepted, etc.

This happened to my friend last year, but he had to reapply in August and only got 1 interview and fortunately was taken off that schools wait-list recently. I dont think there really is a difference between now and 2 weeks from now to be honest but it's just $ in the end.
