Hey all, just to get opinions. I've just received a late interview offer from a program (A) because someone else had to cancel. The problem is that I already have an interview on that date somewhere else (program B). Even though I like program A more, I think my chances of matching there are not as high as the people that got interviews the first time through, and thus I'm thinking about keeping interview B.

What does everyone think about getting late interview offers, and your chances as compared to the people who got offers the first time?

It all depends on how the people who were invited first to program A rank that program. You might be surprised to hear that you might match at that particular program.

Do you know how I got my interview to the program I matched at?
I called them 36 hours before their last day of interviews. They told me "someone just cancelled his interview today. In order to interview here you have to fly tomorrow morning". I booked a flight and went there. They were second on my rank list. Still, I matched there and I was extremely happy.

If I was you, I would go to the program I like more even if you were invited late. Remember, although you were invited in the last minute, you were the first or second on their waiting list. That means they like your application.
Of course, think well before you make that decision.

Good luck.
