Hi,
I was waitlisted a two schools and I am wondering if you apply to the same school for the third time (1st time=no interviews, 2nd time= interview +waitlist due to lack of seats apparently, interviewed late), is it a higher chance you would get in by December?
I am praying to God everyday that I get in this cycle in the first round so I can breathe easier. This means the world to me.. have been at it for a looooongggggggg time now.

Did anyone get waitlisted at a school in previous cycle and got in easy/first round the next cycle?

Thanks!

I had two late interviews last year and got waitlisted at both schools, reapplied, and got an interview for one of the schools on Oct 3rd which I am really excited about. That is the only interview I have so far for this cycle...but all you need is one right!

All the best to you!

hey squints, I remember you from last cycle. were you waitlisted at tufts? I was, the reality of a waitlist sucks but hoping that I get in this cycle first round. Good luck to you too.
Its too bad tufts didnt offer deferred admissions this past cycle, huh? Lets stay strong for this cycle.. keep me posted.
best wishes,

Hey dental2012,
I was waitlisted at Creighton the first time ( I didn't interview though, I was just put in their waitlist)...I never made it. But the next year I reapplied, did get an interview and made it in the first round. Me, reappliying came up during my interview so I think they really pay attention to it. I think reapplying somewhere where you've been waitlisted is not a bad idea...It can show the admissions people how truly committed you are to being accepted at their school, and I guess it shows you really want to go to that school... 😳) Good luck!

this is my dream story. I hope this happens to me that I get in by December so I can pay my dues. I have had a long long journey which needs to end at its destination. i don't know why but I am staying positive this cycle, last cycle all though I said to myself I will get in, I didnt believe it. This year I believe it, God Willing.

thanks for your help dc_vzla82, hope you are loving dental school.
Thanks, anyone else please share more success stories.

Hey, I'm in the same boat. Fourth time applying, interviewed last three cycles including this year at my first choice! Hopefully I get in this december as well. Good Luck!

Quattro, that is freaking me out. If they don't take you this year, I would tell them to take a hike. Its not fair inviting someone for an interview (not in your case but many other like myself...spending thousands of dollars on transportation/prep/apps) to not take you.
it aches being rejected but it hurts being waitlisted because it makes you think you almost made it but not quite. So this cycle, we are on and we will make it happen, God Willing.

good luck.

haha yeah I thought you looked familiar. I got waitlisted at Tufts and Buffalo. My interview in Oct is at Buffalo and I am REALLY hoping to get in! I want them to know how interested I am in the school without sounding too desperate!
UGH! This whole process sucks but will be totally worth it!
Hang in there!

1st year = no interview
2nd year = early interview at top choice ... waitlisted
3rd year = late interview at top choice (same school).. waitlisted
4th year = praying hard for another interview soon at the same school and hopefully good news on dec 1st.

each year I improved my application: ie. becoming a full-time dental assistant... retook my DATs... took a few classes towards a postbac. The hardest thing has been getting so close to getting in each year... I completely understand when you say you want this more than anything - to attend your top school.... just DON'T GIVE UP! if this it is truly your goal to attend a particular school and becoming a dentist... stay committed and do whatever it takes.

i was waitlisted at meharry last year and tufts, so hoping that I would get in by december 1st so I could take some time off and do some good things. Its seems like applying to dental school has become a career of some sort! ha,
thanks for the support y'all.

Mine is kinda odd...

Last year: I interviewd at two schools, Buffalo & Indiana ---> both waitlisted...

This year: Better GPA, DAT, more research hour w/ a publication... etc...
I think my application is better than last year BUT...
I got rejected by indiana & defered by buffalo...

But luckly, got 4 interview from other schools...

I interviewed at Marquette last year and one other school. Was waitlisted at Marquette and never got an alternate spot. I improved my work experience and my DAT by 3 points so I'm hoping for another interview and of course an acceptance would be fantastic. I want to go to Marquette sooo bad! Although I haven't received an invite for an interview yet and so many others have already been asked 🙁 I'm a little discouraged.

Couple weeks ago, Dean of Marquette visited my school & presented about their school...
He said last year they interviewd 300 out of staters and sent out 70 acceptance letter & 38 decided to stay at marquette, so only 2 spots were available for alternate list...
And he also mentioned after 300 interview invitation, they dont invite people for more interview...
It might sound little brutal but I think all the first round(at the same time last round) interview invitations were sent out already, & if you didn't here from them by now, the game is over...
Sorry for bad news, But I applied there too & didn't here from them...
Just cross fingers for other schools...

By the way, there are 40 out of stater spots at Marquette

I was put on the Alternate List last year at Marquette and didn't get a position. I just applied and got an interview for the 2009 spot! Here's hoping for 3rd times a charm!!!

I was placed on the alternate list this year at LSU. There are only 5 out of staters accepted and 2 people on the alternate list. I applied kind of late and didn't interview until January. If I don't get in this year I am hoping that if I apply early next year then I will have a pretty good shot of an acceptance.
