I feel yuor pain. I've been waitlisted at my first choice school. I'm about in the middle of the alternate list and well within the range that were eventually accepted the last couple of years but the waiting is excruciating. The staff is very sympathetic and answers requests for status right away but still the school starts in June and I probably won't hear anything til May.
Did your school give you a ranking? If they did I don't know how meeting with the staff could change that. Did you interview? If yes then your impression has probably already been made. If they didn't interview and your rank is not already set, you might be able to distinguish yourself by a meeting with the faculty.
