waitlists?

I'm a little bit confused... whats this about waitlists to get into dental school? Don't u just apply and some people get interviews and the people they pick get to go in...

or is it that they put some people on like a back up list just incase people dont want to pay the deposit or choose a different school.... so confuzzled....

I think waitlisted means that you applied late. I applied late for the 2008 cycle and am waitlisted for two schools.

When I went for both interviews it seemed from the vibe that I got was that the interviews were no longer for an admission but more of an opportunity to be waitlisted.

So yes it is just an alternative bunch of students on the list as a backup in case if the students that got into the school eventually reject going to that school.
