Hello everyone,

I had a question about being waived out of traditional prereq courses (BIOL 101+102 + Lab, Chem101,102 + lab, etc.).

Currently, I've learned that due to the program that I'm in, I qualify for a waiver for freshman bio+lab as well as freshmen chem + lab from my science department. I've actually already taken orgo and did fine. When I'm applying through AMCAS, will this be a problem? (I will have the credits for these classes, just not the grades) Is there a separate slot in AMCAS where I need to specifically list the prereq courses and the grades from them?

You should request an official copy of your transcript and check that. It will state clearly whether you have been granted credit and in what form. Even though it wasn't strictly AP credit, many schools list it on their transcripts as "AP credit" because it is a form of "advanced placement" and you would just report it as such on AMCAS. But many schools require you to take upper-level courses in those disciplines to satisfy their requirements even though you already have fulfilled the pre-reqs using advanced placement so you want to check on the school websites of the schools you are interested in to make sure.
