I've always heard people saying they signed waivers to not view their LOR and that gives it more weight. Where do I get the waiver? If my recommenders are submitting the letter online, is there an electronic option or do they have to mail a waiver?

I'm interested in this too. I did confidential-letter request using interfolio but I'm not sure if AMCAS recognizes that or not. If they don't and there is a way to let them know that I haven't viewed the letter, then I definitely want to know about it.

I was kind of curious about this, because I expected there to be a box that you check (or something along these lines) on the application that states you waive your rights to read it. However, AMCAS doesn't even give you the option to view the letter that has been uploaded to the app, anyway, so maybe they just figure it's irrelevant?

Anyone know?

when you upload to interfolio you select the option "confidential letter" which I believe is the default option. That is the same as signing the waiver. If you look at your LOR request form that goes to the prof it is stated that you waived your right to view the letter.

All letters going direct to amcas are confidential.

So we shouldn't have to worry about it. I only ask because the university of madison's website says that all letters must be submitted through AMCAS but adds....

"Applicants must complete a waiver form relating to their right to review the letter of recommendation. Waiver forms provided by letter services may be used. A waiver form is available within our secondary application for use as needed and is a part of the Instructions to Letter Writers form (pdf)."

If you can see your letters, then you did something wrong. If you can't see your letters then you are ok. Clear enough?

I had the exact same question in another forum and didn't get a clear response. But from the info I have gathered from multiple sources, I think you don't need any waiver form if you are using AMCAS letter service directly. Since you can't see your letters on your app. then its all good.

plus it would be a hassle to get a waiver form for each individual letter.

If you use interfolio I beleive you can see your letters if you don't check the confidential letter option. so that is why they have to have an option.

if anybody knows something else, please correct me.
