Wake Forest Waitlist

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm waitlisted at Wake too, which is too bad since I really liked it there. Anyways, I have 2 friends also on the waitlist there and haven't heard of anyone getting in off the waitlist so far this year, but I'm hoping.

How long have you been on the waitlist? The waitlist letter states that they pull people off the waitlist all the way into the first week of school. I hope there isn't that much waiting involved.

I've been on the waitlist for a few weeks now and sent in a letter telling them to keep my file active. I don't know what to expect since they don't rank their waitlist, it's just not very nice. Haha.

I was pulled off the waitlist in late december, I think I might go.

I just officially turned down Wake. I hope this helps people out there.

I interviewed in October and just got pulled off the waitlist a few weeks ago. For what it's worth, I never wrote them a letter to keep my file active (or whatever it was they said you have to do in the waitlist letter)... and it came in a thin envelope.

Thanks for all the responses. So it looks like most people are staying on the waitlist for awhile huh? Congrats to everyone who got pulled off the waitlist...MAYBE I'll see you next year.

Anybody heard of much movement off the waitlist lately?

Just pulled off Wake's waitlist.... 5/5/2004. Will be attending in the fall. Good luck to all of those waiting. FYI.. I wrote a letter of intent after being waitlisted in January, but had not spoken to the admissions office until I received the acceptance letter last week in a thin envelope.

Hi guys....I interviewed at Wake on Feb 2nd, and I was waitlisted. I was pulled off the waitlist and offered acceptance on the 26th of April. I did write a letter of intent to the admissions office...I think they possibly give favor to those who submit a letter saying they would like to go there??? Good luck 🙂

This really doesn't have too much to do with the waitlist at Wake Forest, but I was reading an article on CNN's webpage on how UVA has implemented random DNA testing for black students in the hopes of catching a serial rapist. These actions seem totally degrading and insulting to the students that are subjected to this kind of treatment. Anyways, I was wondering what the atmosphere for minority students is like at Wake. When I interviewed there I felt very comfortable but the again I was there for less than a day.

HAHAHA! Random DNA testing for black students? That's hilariously illegal. I seriously doubt that actually happens. Anyways, I'm also on the waitlist at Wake and hoping they let me in. Although I'm not a minority, when I interviewed there I had a black girl and an asian guy do the tour. They were two of the happiest, nicest med students I've met from any med school, so I'm pretty sure they have a nice atmosphere for minorities.

i withdrew from my spot at wf a couple days ago ........

Apparently it does. Here is the link http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/05/12/uva.diversity.ap/index.html

I just got off the waitlist a couple of days ago at Wake. Will be there in the fall, I guess mid-summer is more accurate.

Hey themann and nctstatemed, congrats on getting in!

tarheel04, I interviewed and was waitlisted by late March. I wrote a letter of interest in late March, and then called a few weeks later in April. Within a few days, I heard a response. I just called to check on the status of my application, and the woman I spoke with told me that she would make a note in my file that I called. Not sure if this will help you. As you can see, doing nothing, to doing something, works - it's a crapshoot. But it wouldn't hurt to try (if you haven't already).

SurgeryRA, I have a friend at Duke who told me that the community at Wake is very tight, but then again, the entire class of 100 is tight, and you'll get to know your class, plus the class above you, really well. If you were comfortable on your interview day, I think that your feelings are indicative of the general vibe that you'd get as a student at the school. I went on a weekend when there were no students around, so I only got to see the Dir. Of Minority Affairs the day I was there. I had no sense of the student atmosphere, and talking to a student helped a little, but not enough to push me towards going there.

Best of luck to everyone!

Last year the waitlist started moving on May 23. The last person accepted into the class of 2007 found out 4-5 days before orientation started (he's the class president). If you have any questions about Wake feel free to send me a PM, there are also several of my classmates who roam the threads of SDN.

bump. whats the word with Wake Forest. Are people still getting in? Orientation begins Monday.

I got a phone call on 7/15 saying that I had been accepted from the waitlist. I turned it down so it should have helped someone else out.
