If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely be a little skeptical about the walgreen's offer not being in writing. but if the DM has told you he's even thought of a store to put you at, I think it's pretty secure.

Company-wise, I think Walgreens offers more job security in the long run.

Depends on the offer and if you think Rite Aid has a better offer compared to Walgreens and which company you'd like to work for more. You could maybe mention you have a standing offer now and would like more information from Walgreens due to that.
