Guess they couldnt handle a 2% reimbursement cut.

I wonder if delaware will give in as quickly as washington state did??

Not a lot of places can. A lot of pharmacies lose money on brand names once you factor in filling costs. (Label costs 35 cents, transmission costs 5 cents.. you make an error, 10 cents..., vial is 25 cents, thrift, labor costs, etc). Generics used to make up for the loss... but with 4 dollar generics... times are tough.

Perhaps Walgreens feel by refusing to fill medicaid scripts, they can make it up by something like... pushing for MTM to make more profits.

By the way:

"If we don't get it done this year, we're not going to get it done," Obama said May 28. "The election in November, it didn't bring about change. It gave us an opportunity for change."

those are some cool links! if anything major happens, it will be exciting to get in on the ground floor of improvements to the healthcare system, that by some standards could be called historic!

This link is the direct link to pharmacists' ideas from pianopooh's citation.

It's good to know there's at least some lobbying being done on behalf of pharmacies. If walgreens can get higher reimbursement rates for mtm, they'd probably increase their business while also needing to hire more pharmacists.

From what I have heard is that Walgreens actually does have a basic plan for pharmacists charging for services in the works. If Walgreens or any other pharmacy is able to allow pharmacists that charge for services, it will be good for all.

Wasn't it Walgreens that gave in?

No, I think the state said "ok, ok, we won't cut reimbursement quite as much" and Walgreen's said "yay! we will will continue to fill Medicaid scripts because we like money"

I want everyone to refuse to fill medicare pt b rx's. Such a pain in the ass with a new hoop to jump through every month. Now they want us to get testing logs from the patients. And we can't even get them to pick their **** up from the pharmacy within ten days!
