Walmart Intern Dress Code

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the dress code is for a Pharmacy Intern at Walmart. I am currently a technician and will be an intern as soon as I get my intern license. The HR people seem to think I have to wear Navy Blue but my Pharmacy Manager and the Co-Manager of the store say I can wear whatever with my white coat.

You're safe with any combo of shirt + tie + slacks w/ the white coat. Maybe subbing in a nice polo shirt during the summers.

you can wear anything under a white coat as long as it is professional.

you don't have to wear that dumb ass blue top and khaki pants. the only thing that sucks is that customers will think you are the manager when you go out of the pharmacy to do anything.

Thanks for the replies. The people in the back office for some reason decided to get nasty with me for wearing a blue polo (not navy blue) under my white coat. She said she would take it up with HR and escalate it if she had to and that the pharmacy manager and the co-manager didn't override the store policy. She said all hourly associates had to wear Navy Blue and khaki. I'm going to check the policy at work tomorrow but the Pharmacy Manager said I can wear what I want under my white coat as long as it was professional and no jeans.

no offense but I use to work at Walmart and HR is a joke. the representative is just a ******ed person who probably hates their job and is taking it out on you cause they can't find anything better with their high school diploma.

btw. Look on the Wire for uniform policy. I know when I worked there it said clearly that pharmacy interns and pharmacists could wear anything they wanted under their white coat. I doubt the rules have changed in 4 months.

I plan too! Also the only reason I work there is because that was the only job available to me at the time. I'll be moving to another state in the Spring and I plan on working elsewhere. I love the people I work with in the pharmacy but can't stand the personnel or the customers.

Interned with Walmart pharm before. Like the above posters said just wear something professional underneath the white coat. Check to see if you need to wear a tie. I didn't have to.

Now the techs may have a certain colored vest they need to wear though but you don't need to wear that unless you choose to.

I definitely don't have to wear a tie since I'm female...LOL. Walmart got rid of the vests about 3 years ago. Just in case anyone needs to know I don't think the guys would have to wear a tie since the pharmacists I work with don't.

When I was an intern at Wal-Mart, I wore whatever I wanted, often without a white coat.

Quit Wal-Mart. I'm ashamed that I used to work there. Their recent actions against pharmacists in North Dakota only intensified my shame.

So I went on the wire and found the policy and sure enough I can wear what the pharmacists wear! I am definitely not working at Walmart for the rest of my life. I'll be quiting when I move and working at any other pharmacy I can get a job at!

Any guy pharmacist/intern should wear a tie, IMO. If you want to be treated like a professional, dress like one. The guy techs that I work with even wear ties. If you want to wear polo shirts, go work in the front of the store. Time of the year shouldn't matter unless your A/C shuts down.
