WAMC 2025-2026 Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I suspect that compared to other applicants with your metrics, your non-clinical hours may be lower. I don't have your application, but going by your own description of your activities, you likely should have more hours, especially showing commitment to a community of strong interest. 70 hours of food distribution work is low; this should be at least 150 hours, probably 250 if you want to get into more "brand name" schools nationally. But for Texas, I'm not sure if what you have pushes you into "interview me" status. 150 hours is 3 hours a week for a year, so if your other 80 hours of work is spread out over 3-4 years of undergrad, that's not much time to community.

Watching the TMDSAS videos from admissions officers and attending recruitment events likely would be places to clarify if your profile was optimal, but again, I don't have your actual application to know your written profile (essays, letters, etc.).

ok gotcha thank you but in terms of the rest of my application, no major red flags correct? thought since tx born and raised along with decent mcat and gpa, would be getting a few more interviews
I don’t pretend to know anything about the Texas application process, but unless something has changed with OOS recently school, those schools are hesitant to “waste” an interview on OOS applicants. Through years of experience they know you’ll go to a Texas school if accepted. And with good reason.
Good luck as you move forward.

in the EY 2024 stats for TMDSAS,
4878 Texans applied to TMDSAS schools
3677 interviewed (meaning 1201 got no interviews at all)
2076 matriculated to a TMDSAS school.

Having 2 interviews by early September is better than most
People think I am a curmudgeon when I say "be grateful", but , um, be grateful for 2 interviews.

Where did you grow up in Texas? Many Texas schools like people who grew up in their part of the state.

Again, your success depends on mission fit.

I'm going to post a comment here for people who read this later and want to see what happens to solid applicants who are very worried.
This applicant with a 516/4.0 was stressed about not getting "enough" Texas interviews.
I'm sorry they deleted almost everything they have written but I suppose that was to prevent being identified by their details.
By the first week of October they are now up to 4 Texas interviews including the most competitive.
Confidence in your readiness and achievements is really important when you go to those interview days, something to remember
