Date of submission: June 2025
Overall GPA: 3.42
Science GPA: 3.37
Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: 3.39

DAT scores: 440 AA (21)
Quantitative Reasoning: 430 (20)
Reading Comprehension: 350 (17.5)
Biology: 460 (22)
General Chemistry: 470 (23)
Organic Chemistry: 470 (22)
Total Science: 470 (22.5)
Perceptual Ability: 420 (19.5)

State of Residence: Missouri
Undergrad Attended: Missouri State University
Major: Biology
Minor: Chemistry
Minority? Hispanic
Reapplicant? No
Nontrad? Yes

Shadowing Experience: ~115 Total Hours
~90 General Dentistry, ~25 Specialist
Volunteering Experience: ~70 Total Hours
~35 Trash clean-up
~35 Patient Care

Employment: Full-time at Pharmaceutical Lab
Research: If method development for client molecules counts, but no independent research
Other Extracurriculars: N/A
Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? I was planning to take a day off to shadow at UMKC in May to try and make some connections, otherwise no.
Relevant Honors or Awards: N/A
LOR type and strength: Best letters would be from dentists and managers (they have their phd in organic chemistry) if that is possible. It would be a stretch to get LOR from professors, it’s possible but it’s been while.
Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags: I have been out of school for 6 years, all of my shadowing, volunteering, and additional courses have been over the last 2 years while working full-time. I had to take physiology online and retake physics at the local community college, which isn’t preferred but I was limited with my work schedule.

School list:
University of Missouri Kansas City
A. T. Still, Kirksville MO
Kansas City University, Joplin MO
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
Rutgers University, sibling went there for medical school if having family that is alumni helps, if not I’ll remove it
Marquette University
University of Colorado
University of Pittsburg
Roseman University
LECOM
Lincoln Memorial University
Oregon Health Sciences
Midwestern University
University of Iowa
University of Minnesota
Creighton University
University of Louisville

This feels like a lot of school, would be good to reduce it but I don't think there are any schools that would be considered safe so I want to cast a large net.

That is a large number of schools, but you also have a little lower GPA. I'll have to think further about your mission fit. Have you connected with officers at SNDA/HDA at each of the schools you list? Is your sibling involved?

I think your volunteering hours are subpar. I recommend 100 hours. You actually have 35 clinical volunteering (patient care) and 35 non-clinical (trash), so you're already presenting a challenging profile with lower GPA, somewhat ok DAT, low volunteering

Consider researching Howard and Meharry (both are HBCUs although they also accept students from other underrepresented groups), and the Puerto Rican schools if you are fluent (both verbal and written) in Spanish.

I'll try and bring my volunteering up to 100 hours this month. Thank you.
