which schools did you apply to last cycle and when?

Have you volunteered/shadowed/attended events at any dental schools? networking, volunteering in a D-school clinic, shadow faculty, etc.

I tried to find the schools within a 2 hour flight/6 hour drive from the DC area. From there, any school that does not really accept OOS or is crazy expensive I took it off the list. schools taken off: UNC, NYU, UPENN, Columbia, Stony Brook, ECU. would add more and i am open to take any off that are out of reach. I am the first in my family to go to a college in the united states so this is all new to me and my family

ECU is on your list...

That one is coming off, they do not seem too OOS friendly and my application is nothing special so that one seems slim
UF is also very OOS unfriendly

DAT score (include AA and all sections):???

ah ok

your ts is below the average matriculant (20.5 or so), while your AA is slightly above (20.5 or so)
your gpa is below the matriculant average (3.55)

there are 8 schools remaining on your list if you take off ECU and UF
but only 2 are privates
you need to have a bigger list with a range of a couple reach schools, mostly in-range schools, and some safeties

you get interview invites and acceptances from mission fit
"2 hour flight/6 hour drive" is not mission fit...

oh i see what you mean. dental schools who focus on giving back to the community (service) is my priority so UMD, WVU, Temple, and Ohio have stood out to me with their mission statements. I also was hoping to find schools with higher native American enrollment but that seems slim to 0 so I wrote my personal statement surrounding the hispanic community

As a reapplicant, complete the Spring 2025 Applicant Experience Survey.

Are you doing any networking this time? SNDA chapter officers? Have you looked up anyone active in SAID?

I think Arizona and Oklahoma have the highest number of students and patients of Native American heritage. I'd also check Buffalo. By flight time, Buffalo's pretty close.

Fewer than 100 applicants (every year) identify as Native American (may include those that are multiracial).

it's not that the enrollment is slim to none, it's that there's so few NA applicants...

Make sure you complete the Spring 2025 Applicant Experience Survey (see signature).

Hopefully the networking helps. Reach out in the early stages of applying, even before applying if there is an opportunity. We have posted the dates of the ADEA GoDental Virtual Fair and steps to register.

your biggest issue last cycle was your school list and applying in october
if you apply earlier in the cycle and have a broader range, your chances will be better...
