First time poster! Would really appreciate some help because my GPA is lower while my MCAT is higher. My list is definitely pretty high right now, so I could use some help getting rid of schools, or if I should add any. I'm applying for the 2025-2026 cycle.
1. AMCAS cGPA: 3.67, sGPA: 3.58
Freshman year: 3.62
Sophomore year: 3.64
Junior Year: 3. 68
Senior Year: 3.75

2. MCAT Attempt 1: 510 (129, 128, 123, 130) Attempt 2: 518 (129, 131, 127, 131)
3. State of residence: MD
4. Race: White
5. Top 5 liberal arts college
6. ~200 hours through summer EMT job ~20 of volunteer hospice care
7. Undergraduate thesis won a school-level award for it, 2-year post grad neuro research with the NIH (hoping to be on a paper or two at some point)
8. ~120 hours of Shadowing with an Anesthesiologist, hospitalist, radiologist, gynecologist, orthopedic PA
9. camp counselor for campers affected by sickle cell and HIV two years in a row (288 Hours), Call-in/walk-in peer health volunteer at my college (20 hours)
10. DIII athletics, RA/housing coordinator for 2 years, TA for a semester, highly involved in organizing LGBTQ+ events within athletic team
11. Relevant honors or awards: Sigma Xi, neuroscience thesis award, all-academic team for 3 years
12. I'm applying for the 2026 cycle, so I will have time to get in some more volunteering. Open to advice on other things I should be doing in the next 10 months or so (that works with my 9-5 research job).
I'm really interested in addiction research and neuroscience research in general. I'm hoping to continue my research along with my medical career.

Agree with Goro, list has several unrealistic schools.

Volunteer at a food bank or homeless shelter on the weekends. Include Hackensack. Take off Sinai, Pitt, Toledo and VTech to make Goro's list a little more manageable.

Get more volunteering (which you said you would). Why not Ph.D.?
I like research, but I'm not interested in getting a Ph.D. To me, it feels like a different time committment that I don't want to do. I also worry that my GPA is too low for an MD-Ph.D program. I will definitely do more volunteering though!
