What support do you have with your master's program for applying, and do they recommend you apply now? Have they looked at your list, and what feedback have they given you about your readiness?

Most adcoms really like to see SMP students near completion (closer to 30 hours vs. 9 hours). If you are there for GPA repair, we need to know you have succeeded. With a 3.76 uGPA, I'm not sure why you are going for a biomedical masters degree if it's an SMP.

I'll give you credit as a firefighter for service orientation, but I'm getting a vibe for emergency medicine/cardiothoracic in your activities. Perhaps that's a reason why you want to pursue medicine, but I'm uncertain you have depth in your experiences since you don't go into detail.

There are many schools on your list that are public that your profile may not align with who they want with OOS. How did you come up with this list? Why would you want to go to medical school at Buffalo, UNC, or Ohio State? As a New Jersey resident, your in-states will be your friends, as will the privates in Philadelphia and New York, but your purpose is not clear from this profile.

It's not necessarily an SMP, but many people do enroll in it as such. The program has options for both an MBS, which is more geared towards the GPA improvement students, as well as an M.S., which involves heavier research requirements and a thesis. I'm planning on writing a thesis to get my M.S., mainly because I was interested in gaining some research experience and genuinely enjoy learning and coursework, and was looking to do something more meaningful/productive than working a job while waiting to apply during my gap year. I just started the program this spring, as I was studying full time over the summer to take the MCAT in September, and was too late to have started the master's this past fall.

The academic advisors double in the role as admissions advisors for us and apparently master's students have a high admit rate with the MD program at the school. My advisor is of the impression that I have a strong application for medical school even prior to the master's program.

As for my school list I mainly just constructed it using the MSAR and trying to align schools with my stats, focusing on schools in the northeast, I'm probably going to think about cutting out some schools that might not be the best fit, like the OOS state schools (the one exception being UTHSC as I went to undergrad at UT) but this is the first draft of the list that I've made. I definitely prefer going in-state, but didn't want to limit myself by not applying broadly.

You have several state public schools on your list that admit few non residents with no connection to the state. CUNY only admits applicants through their undergraduate pathway. I suggest these schools with your stats:
