  1. cGPA = 3.8; sGPA = 3.7
  2. MCAT = 509 (125/127/126/131)
  3. State of residence = Colorado
  4. ORM but from financially disadvantaged background (not sure if this matters)
  5. T10 Undergrad
  6. Clinical exp = Patient care tech for 200+ hrs; Volunteer EMT for 500+ hrs; Starting work as MA or CRC soon (will have ~640hrs when I submit my primary app)
  7. Research = fellowship, published first author on multiyear project for 2500+ hrs; two posters; award recipient for research/academic background
  8. Shadowing = 16 hrs with a podiatrist; 40 hrs with FM doc in underserved clinic
  9. Non-clinical volunteering = volunteer outdoor instructor/trip leader for 600+ hrs (provide free access to the outdoors for undergrad students and for underserved elementary school-aged kids); academic tutor for underserved youth for 70 hrs; High school robotics team mentor for 50 hrs
  10. Academic tutor for 4th grade student with a learning disability (80 hrs); Leadership roles in 2 campus organizations
  11. Research fellowship recipient; Research award recipient; Deans' List throughout undergrad
  12. Have strong, compelling story for the "why medicine" question and lots of strong experiences to share on my PS and in essays

My MCAT feels like the weakest part of my app, but I can't tell how much it'll hold me back when I apply this year. I'm not considering a retake at this point since my time feels better spent on gaining more meaningful clinical experience.

I'm in the early stages of thinking about my school list. My partner is a CA resident (does this count as a strong tie to CA?) and we love California and I want to move there, but haven't gained residency yet. I'll be applying as a Colorado resident this May but will have worked for a year and a half before attending med school if I can get in somewhere (not sure if that changes things for CA med schools).

List:
University of Colorado
UCSF, OHSU (MD-MPH programs strongly appeal)
UCLA
USC-Keck
UCDavis
UCSD
Maryland
Dartmouth
Einstein
SLU
Stony Brook
Vermont
WVU
Wake Forest
Georgetown
GW
Tulane
Tufts
Brown
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Drexel
Albany

Haven't looked into many DO schools yet, but Touro University in Vallejo, CA

Thank you!

The California schools are not realistic with your MCAT of 509. You have several other schools that are reaches.
I suggest these schools with your stats:
Colorado
TCU-UNT
Creighton
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College Wisconsin
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
Tulane
NOVA MD
Wake Forest
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
George Washington
Georgetown
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
Hackensack
New York Medical College
Albany
Vermont
Quinnipiac
For DO schools consider these:
TUCOM-CA
WESTERN
KCU-COM
ATSU-KCOM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
Touro-NY
NYITCOM
CUSOM
PCOM
