Hey guys! I am currently applying to medical school this 2025-2026 cycle and would really appreciate some help on deciding on what schools to apply to and if I should apply to any DO schools. Thank you so much in advance!

GPAs: cGPA - 3.87 sGPA - 3.76
MCAT: 512 (127,129,128,128)
State: TN (Lived in GA 18 years)
Ethnicity: White
Major: Biomedical Sciences (ASL Minor)
Undergrad: University in VA
Clinical Experience: None 🙁 (caring for terminally ill relative but I don’t think that counts)
Research experience:
-Work in immunology research under professor working on effects of BPC on immune system development. Going to continue the project into next year. 220 hours with an additional predicted 300 hours
—>I have presented this research three times all on different projects within the umbrella of the research
Shadowing Experience:
-Shadowed a primary care physician —>60 hours
Non-clinical volunteering:
-Volunteer at local food shelter throughout the school year helping to pack boxes of supplies and shipping containers (40 hours)
-Volunteer at local pool helping to clean and maintain the pool (80 hours)
Extracurricular activities:
-Collegiate swimming: swam for 2 years at my college ~1320 hours
-Member of my school’s pre-med honors society
-Member of my school’s research society
-Teaching assistant for a microbiology lab for the past three semesters ~90 hours
Honors/Awards:
-Research Symposium Award
-Dean's List
Other:
-Head judge for a HS research event
Current School List:
Albany
ETSU
Eastern Virginia
Medical College of Georgia at Augusta
Penn State
Tennessee
VCU
VT
Wake
West Virginia
LUCOM (maybe)

Belmont and AWSOM should also be added; they are new schools, but at least Belmont is in Tennessee, and AWSOM just a state over.

I'm a little worried that you don't have enough service orientation activities (food bank 40 hours). You have an ASL minor, so I'm curious about what you have done with it.

Yeah, you need more clinical experience, and that may be your Achilles heel. I would take the next year to build that up significantly, but if you have already sent your money out...

With no clinical experience your chances for interviews are limited. In the coming year accumulate 250+ hours of clinical volunteering/employment with patient contact. You should also accumulate another 110+ hours at the local shelter since some schools screen at 150 hours.
