Hey everyone,
I'm an undergraduate at a Canadian university and I am a US citizen as well. I'm avoiding Canadian schools and applying to the states because of my poor CARS score.
GPA: 3.93
MCAT: 515 (CP: 129, CARS: 123, BB: 131, PSYC: 132)
State of residence: None (Live in Canada)
Citizenship: US citizen
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern
Clinical experience: medical assistant at an endoscopy clinic as well as a hematology clinic, volunteer at emergency department, volunteer at diagnostic imaging department as well Over 200 hrs ish
Research experience: 2 publications so far (1: International Journal of Stroke, 2: Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis). Poster presentations and oral presentations at World Stroke Congress and Vascular 23' Conference. Ignite Medical Case Comp top 40 project. Other manuscripts in progress.
Shadowing: Shadowed Interventional Radiology at MD Anderson, Endoscopy here in Canada, Cardiology in Egypt. 150 hours ish
Non-clinical volunteering: Orphan Sponsorship Program Founder, COVID vaccine clinic, public health education organization, yearly food bank, + many others.
Extracurricular activites: University Squash Team Captain, Physiology Teaching assistant, Youth soccer league founder, etc
Wanted to ask everyone what schools people recommend I apply to since I will be considered Out of State everywhere I apply (US citizen but with a Canadian address). My potential list of schools is here:
1. TCU
2. Wayne State
3. Buffalo
4. Oakland University (michigan)
5. Drexel
6. Albany
7. Icahn
8. Albert einstein
9. Suny downstate
10. stony brook
11. indiana
12. baylor
This is just a rough list of what I have. Any new recommendations or input would be great!
Also, does my Cars score affect my chances ? Or do they just look at my score as a whole?
