No, they are not for anyone with no connection to the state or region. If you do not receive an acceptance from one of your Michigan schools it is very unlikely that you would receive an acceptance from one of those schools.

Sounds good, thanks so much. Do you think I have a solid shot at MDs this cycle?

Being an in-state Michigan applicant, you have a number of schools who would look at you with your MCAT score. It isn't going to be UMichigan, but depending on how much networking you have had with CMU, both MSU's, Oakland, Wayne State, and Western Michigan, you never know. Check against the MSAR/CIB on where your metrics stand among matriculants and ask your advisors about their opinion.

You are definitely a strong candidate for DO, and while it's obvious MD is where you are angling, you can't be too picky. If your goal is to stay in-state to practice, stay realistic.

I went to undergrad out of state, so ive only had a chance to network with Wayne by volunteering at their clinic and my sister currently is an M3 there

How do you compare stats and experience-wise with your sister when she was a successful applicant? How well is she doing so far?
