hello!

i will most likely be reapplying for the 26-27 cycle, and i would appreciate some help on creating my school list. i think my biggest issues from last cycle were my school list and lack of volunteering hours, so i'm hoping to address these issues for the new cycle. below is my application information:

tmdsas gpa/sgpa: 3.72, 3.58
amcas gpa/sgpa: 3.69, 3.57

mcat: 513(129/128/127/128)

state of residence: texas

ethnicity: asian

clinical non-volunteering:

180 hrs- emt, working at concerts and sporting events
1500 hrs- research tech at a clinical research company
new: starting in march, i will be working part time as a pct or medical assistant, so i'll have 250-350 hours by the time of application

clinical volunteering:

150 hrs- hospital volunteer in the cardiology unit

research experience:
200 hrs- research assistant, mainly analyzing data/literature review. no pubs/posters/presentations

shadowing experience:

40 hrs- shadowed neurologist, emergency medicine, family medicine in rural oklahoma
30 hrs- neurologist
60 hrs- allergist and immunologist

non-clinical volunteering:

100 hrs- misc. volunteering with my pre-health club across 3.5 yrs
50 hrs- volunteering at a thrift store whose proceeds go towards a shelter for women and children who are victims of abuse. idt this rlly had an impact only my app since it was projected hours.
new: starting end of february, i will be volunteering at a shelter for unhoused immigrant families. i am aiming to get 150-200 hours by the time applications open

leadership:

300 hrs- social coordinator/social media manager for pre-health club for 2 years
70 hrs- organic chemistry tutor/mentor

honors/awards:

dean's list for 3 semesters

so, i applied to medical school for ey2026, and my cycle has not gone well so far. 2 ii (1 is, 1 oos) -> waitlisted at the oos school and waiting for match day for the tx school. fingers crossed i match, but i want to start preparing for reapplication in case i don't. i am so lost and the idea of having to go through this process again makes me wanna rip all my hair out LOL. if you have any advice/suggestions/criticism/etc. for me, i would greatly appreciate it. below are my application details:

What's your schedule like when adding these new activities at the end of February? It's 3 months to the start of May when TMDSAS opens up. That's 12 weeks, so that's 25 hours/week for 300 hours of clinical plus 14.5 hours/week for shelter volunteering. That's already 40 hours a week.

the pct job would be 24 hours a week, and the ma job would be 30. (i’m still deciding which one to do).

for amcas, i’d be reporting hours from beginning of march to end of may, which is approx 13 weeks. that’d put me at 300 hrs for the pct job or 350 for the medical assistant job.

then for the volunteering, i’m aiming 150 hours by end of may, but i’ll try to get more if possible. 150/13 weeks = approx 11 hours a week. i’ll get these hours on the days i’m not working.

for tmdsas, you’re allowed to report current hours for anything up until september 30th, so i’d actually be able to report more than what i calculated above.

these will be the only 2 activities taking up the majority of my time (besides working on applications of course).
