Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags: B- on physics 1, DAT (?), transferred and first college did not have option to not P/F Spring of 2020

School list:
NYU
Stony Brook
Touro
Columbia
Boston U
Tufts
Temple
UPenn
Rutgers
Uconn

Summary: I have a cumGPA of around 3.8, sGPA of around 3.7, AA of 22, and PAT of 21. Definitely did way worse on bio section for DAT compared to practice exams, don’t know what happened, debating if I should retake it. I would prefer to stay in the northeast, specifically the NJ/NY area, and would very appreciate any honest criticisms/feedback. I see these schools’ average stats, but realize there are higher data points in their sample. So, really can’t get an accurate sense of where I stand. Would also very appreciate other schools to add/schools you think I really won’t have a chance at! Thanks.

you completed your application today?

Yeah, I'm guessing you'll be submitting your app to June instead of March. 🙂

Your DAT is not a red flag. Getting 20's across the board should allay any concerns there, so it's then just a question of schools being (unnecessarily) greedy. On metrics, you're a strong candidate. You are at Tufts so you should have access to people who can give you a pretty realistic assessment of your chances, so I'm not sure why you lack confidence. Your prehealth advisors at Tufts are solid and should have helped you figure out your BCP GPA.

Any networking? There are a number of fairs coming up that hopefully you can hop on a train and attend. (I'm thinking of a few in NYC that occur in April that cater both to med and dental programs.) If you need specifics, let me know, but your prehealth advisors should have that information as well. You are at Tufts and part of the predental club, so I'm guessing you have connected with students at the Boston dental schools, but if you want NY/NJ, you should reach out to those schools as well. Hopefully you had attended the Yankee Dental conference even to volunteer and get a better sense of the state of dentistry.

They aren't safeties but I'd still throw in Buffalo and Pittsburgh for geography's sake and a little cheaper COL/COA (IMO).

Tomorrow is the Coalition of Pitt Prehealth Students Virtual Fair. Free registration through Eventbrite but followup for links.

I'll send some others.
