Personal Statement:
I am still in the process of writing and rewriting my paper, but I am planning on shedding some light on why I did poorly in the beginning of my academic career/why I had to drop out of school for a while. Focusing a little bit on what I learned from it and how it helped me grow. Why I changed my major to animal sciences and utilizing my diverse work experience to highlight skills that I have acquired that will be useful in this field, etc.

After I reenrolled in school I maintained a 4.0 until graduation, so I am hoping that the upward trend will work in my favor. I also know that I don't have the competitive 1000+ hours. So, I would really appreciate some honest feedback!

What is your state of residence?

California resident!
Then I would take off Texas A&M and add UC Davis, both based purely off the statistics of their classes. Your in state will almost always be your most likely acceptance due to a lower number of applicants per seat. Likewise, TAMU accepts a very limited number of OOS students. Davis will also likely be your cheapest option as well.

Ok, thank you. I will definitely scratch Texas A&M off of the list! I appreciate your feedback. I hadn't considered applying to UC Davis because I have not taken or prepped for the GRE, so I worry that I wouldn't get a competitive enough score to counteract my lower cGPA. Would it also be wise to apply to WesternU? Since it is a private institution I assumed that my IS status would bear no weight on my application and the cost is a little hard to swallow.

UC Davis only looks at your quantitative (math) GRE score. If you decide to take the GRE just for Davis that would be the most important area to concentrate studying on.

That is great to know. I'll start looking into test dates and competitive scores for Davis. Thank you!

Western is entirely up to you. You're correct in saying that your in state status does not matter. They do seem to have a more lenient view of GPA to a certain extent when compared to other schools, so something to consider. The cost is obnoxious for sure; if you applied there and was accepted, I would only accept the acceptance if it was your only one.
