Hello everyone! I'm a sophomore studying for a Bachelor's in Biology with a concentration in Zoology in Texas, hoping to apply to vet schools next cycle! (Jan 2026) I am trying to see where I could potentially improve my chances at being a competitive applicant. My dream school is Texas A&M College Station, but I plan on applying to as many schools that I meet the requirements of. TIA!! <3
Cumulative GPA: 4.0
Science GPA: 4.0
Last 45: 4.0
I will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Zoology in Spring 2027
Veterinary Experience:
- ~200 hours shadowing a shelter med associate veterinarian
- ~550 hours as a surgical veterinary assistant @ an animal shelter clinic
- ~400 hours as a veterinary technician assistant at a GP
- ~1500+ hours as a veterinary technician @ a small animal/exotics urgent care animal hospital (current job, should have around 3000 hours when I apply next cycle!)
- ~10 hours shadowing at an equine hospital (this will be happening on march 10th of this year! once i go there, they said i can schedule more visits to shadow so hopefully, this will increase as well!)
Animal Experience:
- ~ 90 hours volunteering at the humane society, did everything from feeding, dog walking, to volunteering in the surgical clinic
- ~8 hours volunteering at a wildlife & rescue rehab center! (i just started doing this so i will continue to get more hours this year)
Research Experience:
- ongoing research project on Drosophila in my genetics class
- i have tried signing up for research with two professors on my campus but they never email back 🙁

- National Honors Society
- JV Cheerleader (Highschool)
- Student Council Secretary (Highschool)
- Pre-Veterinary Society Founder/President at my Uni
- Pre-Health club member
- HPAC (Health Professions Advisory Committee) Member
Employment:
- I have done nails since 2020 working full time to part time (employed by me)
- I have also sold crafts over the years? Im not sure if this counts
I am trying to be preemptive and figure out where I can improve now so that I can work on any and all things you all recommend me before the application cycle opens next year. I am also seeking any advice on the TMDSAS application system as I know nothing about it.
