My bachelors gpa I graduated in 2010 was a 2.79 and did a post bacc DIY from 2019-2020 which grabbed my gpa from a 2.79 to slightly above 3.00 at 3.02 overall and 3.08 science and 3.03 BCP GPA. I feel that my credentials are not strong enough so that is why I decided to pursue a SMP degree at Barry University BMS program. My gpa at Barry SMP is a 3.68 after 2 semesters and got 2 more left to go for.

did you check which schools will allow your prerequisites since your bachelors was 16 years ago and your postbacc was 6 years ago?

does barry have any linkage with d schools?
what have your advisors at barry told you?

They told me that Midwestern-IL I am a definite competitive candidate with my GPAs and DATs. For Tufts I am not considered the most competitive candidate with the 3.1s but still could potentially get accepted. For BU there is no more a linkage as of Dec 31st, 2025, but still a strong connection like Tufts. What do u think?

You graduated in 2010? Are you eligible for retroactive withdrawals? That might take care of the low GPA that still weighs your app GPA down.

Regardless, I think you are in a very good position because you aren't the same person you were 15+ years ago. You have shown me with your postbac and SMP you can handle rigorous curricula with a solid support system. I also consider the last 2 years of biomedical science courses so you can argue your academic readiness, as I would also expect the Barry team to.

Have you connected with SNDA chapter officers?

I think you can consider Howard (if you already have Meharry). Attend the recruitment/impressions days with confidence and sense any effort to recruit you. Finish strong at Barry.

What happens if I attend UDM, Nova and VCU impressions day? Does that also mean recruitment? I am planning to attend Meharry dental impressions day.

what do you mean by "does that also mean recruitment?"

How does dental schools recruit ppl? Based on my stats am I a legit candidate?
schools do not "recruit ppl"

impressions days are for the predents to familiarize themselves with the school and to learn what they are looking for in a candidate
and an opportunity for the schools to meet interested students and to answer any questions they may have...

btw do u think that I am a viable/competitive candidate for dental schools?

btw do u think that I am a viable/competitive candidate for dental schools?
first of all, you need to check to see if your prerequisites are still valid from undergrad and postbacc

viable/competitive is kind of subjective
first you need to ask your SMP mentors/advisors
they will be able to tell you better than strangers on the internets...

most people would prefer at least 3.7-3.8 in an SMP, but you are close

i suggest you talk to as many schools as you can and formulate a broad list...

What happens? Well, hopefully you'll get your questions answered. Get your questions ready, and pay attention to how the clinic is run. Use your SMP faculty for advice. They will be your best advocates for you. We don't have your application or your letters to make a call responsibly.
