WAMC for MSTP? 3.67 GPA, 35 MCAT

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you'll be fine (at least 1 acceptance) as long as you apply broadly and can interview well. It's a capricious process so you may strike out with top 10 programs but some may bite if they're strong in your area of research. Definitely don't be afraid to reach as long as you apply to some lower tier ones too.

I posted in the regular allopathic forums, but didn't see the MSTP forums, so I thought I would get your thoughts on my application.

Cumulative GPA: 3.66 with upward trend (3.0 FR->3.9 SO-->3.8 SR, graduated in three years)
Science GPA: 3.67
MCAT Score: 35
ECs: ER scribing (700hrs), additional shadowing (30hrs), tutoring/teaching (200 hours) and community volunteering (150 hours), premed club officer, dean's list multiple terms/magna cum laude etc. Worked at least part-time all through college. Economically disadvantaged/FAP recipient.

Research:
(1) Two years (part time) as an undergraduate, mostly helping graduate students with their projects and general lab stuff. No publications.
(2) One year (full time, will stay up through matriculation) NIH Post-baccalaureate IRTA fellow. Two third author publications, one first author poster. I am about 2/3 done with the data collection for a first author paper.

My NIH mentor and the program director recommended I apply for the NIH/OxCam program which would require a full MSTP program.

Do I stand a chance?

Good chances. Write clean essays about your goals and interview well.

I am a current prospective applicant as well, from what people have told me you seem to have all the pieces together. Just interview well my friend.

(Our stats are nearly identical. =) .... Good Luck!)

well, in order to give a more informed answer to that, i think we would need to know some more of your preferences -- you don't have any nyc schools for example, and i don't know if that's just geographic preference, or what.

I appreciate the response. I have no geographic preferences; I've never lived somewhere I couldn't stand.

My first batch of schools that I have applied to (the 14 I get for free with FAP)

OHSU
Mayo
UTHSCSA
UTMB
WashU
Duke
University of Michigan
University of Alabama
UNC Chapel Hill
Dartmouth
Chicago (Pritzker)
Maryland
Cincinnati
Yale

Secondaries completed for Duke, WashU, Michigan, Dartmouth, Chicago and Cincinnati. Still waiting for Maryland, Alabama and UNC secondaries. I already got an interview at UTHSCSA (very excited!)

Anyone have any ideas for some other schools that I should consider?

Throw Vanderbilt on your list and don't worry about your stats, you're going to do fine.
