I’m reapplying this cycle after having 2 interviews at McGovern and Long last year and being waitlisted for both. Graduated from Texas A&M with 3.79 gpa in May.

Freshman year of college I earned my EMT-B cert which involved nearly 300 hours. I spent 3 years in a health related mechanical engineering lab and 3 years as the leader of student church organization.

Volunteering I had around 250ish hours during undergraduate which I believe held me back during my first cycle. This cycle I am working full time as a medical assistant, and volunteering in a food pantry and teaching Sunday school on the side for volunteering.

Took the MCAT once and got 517 with 130 chem/phys, 128 CARS, 129 bio, 130 psych/soc.

I worked 4 different jobs throughout college with one being a tutor for the biology department and one being an ER technician for an urgent care.

I also spent a good bit more time on my essays this year and believe to have made a significant improvement over last year’s essays.

The list of schools I applied to:
UTSW
UTMB
TAMU
McGovern
Long
Dell
Texas Tech
Baylor
UT Tyler

Submitted 6/3

This year I’ve interviewed with TAMU and UTMB. Interestingly, I interviewed with McGovern in September last year but haven’t heard anything from them this year.

when you say 300 hours for EMT-B cert, do you mean 300 hours of classroom time or patient contact time?

also you gave good info but just btw there’s a WAMC “template” that most people follow, which makes it easier to coalesce the information presented.

124 of the hours were pt contact the remaining 176 were classroom/lab time.

Ok that’s good to know. Should I reformat the post?
