You have a very good chance. I would only say to add 10-15 more schools.

Get another part time job that's clinical and hold at least one weekly commitment the entire year to an underserved group like a soup kitchen, clinic for low income people, etc. I think you'd be an average person in a T20ish class. :)

Ad more schools to your list and I suggest these:
Washington University (in St. Louis)
Case Western
Emory
Vanderbilt
NYU
Columbia
Cornell

Do you have any community service experiences and do you have any shadowing experiences?

It would be extremely unwise to only apply in-state, even given your stats since things could go wrong for a multitude of reasons.

Your MCAT will turn heads and could get you a better financial deal at a place like Wash U inSt. Louis that at a State school in Michigan. Just keep that in mind.

I agree that some community service with people you would not typically encounter in your day-to-day life (unhoused, very poor, refugees, etc) would be a plus.

What I listed up there was the extent of my volunteering, which is why I plan to do lots of community service (volunteering at food pantry and family services center)

Like if I genuinely have a circumstance tying me down here in Michigan could I bring that up in interviews and such?

Got it, aim to get 50+ shadowing hours in primary care (FM/IM/Pediatrics) and 150+ hours of community service towards a population you want to serve in the future as a physician.

I wouldn't bring up that circumstance in an interview since it wouldn't help your odds. There's also more Michigan medical schools than the four that you listed, such as Central Michigan and Western Michigan for MD. That alone gets you 6 schools and if you tailor yourself more mission-fit during your gap year, you should be able to receive multiple II's and potentially obtain an acceptance from one of those schools. Even if you have a genuine circumstance tying you down, the medical school admissions process is not necessarily "picking and choosing", but rather "getting what you can" in a larger scheme of things: bad interviewers, lackluster EC's, competitive applicant pool, late submissions, etc. can all contribute to an unfortunate rejection or lack of an II. You should apply to as many schools that you are mission-fit, ideally 20-25 schools, and then work from there if you do happen to receive an acceptance from a school in Michigan.

I can say for certain your research experience is not lacking, although a publication would have helped a little bit to become more mission-fit for research-based schools. I would advise against tutoring being a main activity or experience you undertake during your gap year, as that's not looked highly upon, in contrast to extended clinical experience or community service experiences. You should focus on your scribe job, along with getting a lot of community service experience (hundreds of hours at the least), and getting more clinical volunteering in potentially.

Hello!
I am a recent graduate entering my gap year. I am a Michigan resident, and for personal reasons I'd *heavily* prefer to stay in state. I think my stats are good, but ECs are kind of my weak point. Given the info I've pasted below, would it be foolish to only apply to these 4 schools, period?(Umich, Wayne State, Oakland, Michigan State) I don't want to spend time and money on applications to other schools that I can't really see myself going to, but I also don't know if I'm being unreasonable. Any feedback is appreciated.
I have merged your threads.

Applying to only 4 schools is not a good idea, especially when you barely check the boxes. Projected hours from gap year activities do not help you.
