Date of submission: 7/1/20
Overall GPA: 3.81
Science GPA: 3.70
Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: 3.65
DAT score (include AA and all sections):
AA 19, BIO 18, GC 16, OC 16, RC 26, PAT 15, 20 QR

EDIT: I retook my DAT today: AA 19, BIO 18, GC 18, OC 17, RC 24, PAT 18, QR 18
(I know that the AA didn't increase but at least I pulled up some lower scores)

State of Residence: PA

Major:
Biology
Minority? No
Reapplicant? No
Nontrad? No

Shadowing Experience: 500 hrs general dentistry
Volunteering Experience: ~300 hours as a dental assistant volunteering my time during COVID
Employment: 1500 hrs as a receptionist at a dental office, 500 hours as a dental assistant
Research: Yes- on fracture rate of endodontically treated teeth, not published
Other Extracurriculars: ~500 hours of collegiate shooting sports
Relevant Honors or Awards: Deans list, 3rd in my hs class, many scholarships,
LOR type and strength: Pre-health committee (strong), 1 general dentist (medium strength)

School list:
Pitt, Temple, WVU, Buffalo, UNE, VCU, LECOM, Iowa

What are my chances with the low DAT subsections? I am retaking on 9/28. Regardless of new test scores, would the higher GPA and above average dental experience give me enough of an advantage over the low subsections?

As macsak said just focus on your retake and only take it, i am emphasizing, only take it if you feel you are ready, not because its getting late etc. Also its kinda important for all dental schools to get 18 in each section (except qr i guess).

I retook my DAT today (19 AA, 18 BIO, 18 GC, 17 OC, 18 PAT, 24 RC, 18 QR, 18 TS). What are my chances? I know with my retake I didn't improve as much as I wanted to but I at least have every section above a 17 now. Will my GPA and dental experience be enough to offset the lower DAT?

what was your TS the first and second times?

at least now your DAT won't DQ you immediately
your list is too short and too public school heavy
are you at pitt for undergrad? have you made contacts with students/faculty/staff there? attended predental events there?

Could age play a factor in interview and admissions decisions? Good? Bad? I am 19 years old (will be 20 in November but I had a few credits from high school that allowed me to complete my bachelors in 2.5 years).

Not really. Interviews are just to check your personality. If you have an interview, youre on the same playing field as others. Age doesn’t matter.

Age doesn't matter, what is more important is that what have you done so far. Someone can be at 40 with less shadow, volunteering, any dental experience than a 19 years old. They are not gonna say oh you are 19 so you should hang out there till you turn to 21 😀
