Hi, I know my stats are really low but I'm really passionate about being a dentist. I am planning to apply for this cycle. My stats:

Overall GPA: 3.4 (upward trend, cursing myself for not focusing during the first 2 yrs)
Science GPA: 3.0
DAT score: 20AA, 20TS, 18PAT (23RC, 17QR, 19B, 21GC, 20OC)
State of Residence: International (undergrad in KY and currently reside in MD)

Major: B.S Biology
Minor: Microbiology
Minority? No (Asian)
Reapplicant? Yes

Shadowing Experience: 200+ (120 general, 20 oral and maxillofacial surgery & TMJ, 15 peds, 40 endo, 20 ortho) (I am planning to get many more hours in once COVID restrictions are lifted)
Volunteering Experience: 500 hrs (children's hospital, RMHC, food pantry, homeless shelters, afterschool program for disadvantaged kids etc)
Employment: Tutor for 2 years
Research: 6 months in Microbiology
Other Extracurriculars: 3X Deans list, international ambassador, headed a cultural org at my uni, part of various other orgs

I have lost all hope of getting into a mid-tier school, so am planning to just go for the low tier ones (lmk if you have any suggestions). Your honest opinion and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Those stats aren't bad. Looks like you have all the extra stuff going for you. I'm kind of in the same boat.....3.37 oGPA and 3.30 sGPA, altho after my summer courses get factored in, those should go up a little bit. I'm counting on a strong DAT (25AA) to push me over the top. I just submitted my ap for this cycle last week, so fingers crossed for us!

Opinion: Here’s where your GPA and DAT should be at to get in

Here are just some general guidelines, in my opinion. Of course, there are many more factors that are considered by adcoms than just gpa/dat: Science GPA- 3.5+ (you’re fine) 3.0-3.2 (apply broadly and consider masters or post bacc if not admitted) below 3.0(consider a masters or post bacc)...
