Hi all, so I recently graduated in May 2024 with undergrad in Kinesiology and took my first MCAT in July which wasn't that well, so definitely going to retake that but I was wondering with the GPA that I have which is low and it is 2.91 (don't know my science GPA), should I consider doing a Masters program or post bacc? Because I know I will need a high MCAT score if I don't do masters along with alot of shadowing/clinical hours. Which I don't know if a high MCAT is possible. I don't know what to do so I need some advice!

What was your actual MCAT score? Where is your state of residence? Do you have any physician shadowing, clinical volunteering or employment or non clinical volunteering hours?

A high MCAT will not compensate for a low GPA/sGPA (it may place a bigger spotlight on what you have taken). Every medical school applicant should know how to calculate their science and BCPM GPA, and there are plenty of instructions and online calculators to help.

You say you have a 2.91 GPA. What makes you think you're going to get the 3.3-3.5 they want in an MS program?

That's something to consider going forward. You will not automatically get good grades in an MS program without some drastic change to your current science knowledge and/or your study habits.
