Hey y'all! I'd love your thoughts on what schools would be best fit for me considering my stats, interests, and experiences.... and, of course, the usual thoughts on WAMC for getting in the 2020-2021 cycle 🙂
Thanks for all you folks do to support this crazy, shared journey of ours.
  1. cGPA = 3.4 ... sGPA = 3.02
  2. MCAT = 518 (129, 130, 129, 130)
  3. Residency: kinda two states... I'll definitely be applying to their schools
  4. Native American (enrolled in tribe) & White
  5. Ivy League undergrad
  6. Clinical experience volunteer: EMT (300 hours),
  7. Clinical experience non-volunteer: community health worker (~3000 hours or 1.5 years by application)
  8. Research experience and productivity: research assistant for interdisciplinary project--active mix of lab, clinical, field work, and GIS (~500 hours) Not published
  9. Shadowing experience and specialties represented: Pediatrician (5 hours), Pediatric Infectious Disease (5 hours), Family medicine (45 hours), Neurologist (8 hours), Emergency Med. (16 hours)
  10. Non-clinical volunteering: Experience with youth (Court Appointed Special Advocate, middle-schooler mentor, Sunday School teacher, etc.) -- (100s of hours)
  11. Job experience: 2 years with AmeriCorps focused on public health project management as well as hands-on patient experience (3000+ hours...maybe considered volunteer experience too?); experience in food industry & farming (500 hours)
  12. Interests: public and community health; health policy; Native health issues (demonstrated commitment) & some school choices reflect this interest.; serving rural communities in fam medicine

You can remove UC Davis (admitted only 1 non resident last year) and U New Mexico (admitted only 2) and UC Irvine. You could add these schools:
Arizona (Tucson)
Creighton
Rosalind Franklin
Medical College Wisconsin
TCU-UNT
USF Morsani
Miami
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
New York Medical College
Einstein
Albany
Quinnipiac

@Mr.Smile12 My friend sent me that link a while back, but I didn't apply... just been reading a lot and networking with other Native pre-meds. Thank you for checking though!!

Do you have VA residency? While Vtech doesn't have the instate quotas iirc, I want to say it is still pretty in state biased (along with small class size).

518 is far from meh as long as you aren't an Ivy only person. If I can get in with a 499 & meh ECs, you can easily.
