Hi everyone!

This application cycle I will be a reapplicant. I am currently on the waitlist for my dream school, but I am preparing to reapply in the case that I don't get in by the closing date. I am restudying for the dat right now for a higher score.

My admissions advisor told me that the only thing I need to improve on is my DAT score and my general dentist shadowing hours, which I am currently working on.

A few thing i would like some clarification/advice/any info on:
- should I change my personal statement at all?
- what are some things that will be different about my interview if I land one? any interview advice?

I have attached my personal statement.
Stats:
GPA 3.6, SGPA 3.5
DAT AA 18, TS 17, PAT 21, QR 19,RC 20, BIO 17, GC 19, OC 16
Shadowing 755 hours
Volunteer 506 hours
Research 180 hours

I think your good on the shadowing hours, as 700 is a lot. You should try to become a DA during this year to get hands-on experience as everyone could observe a dental assistant. Also, for your personal statement it looks good as well. So overall, I think retaking your DAT and become a DA would be most beneficial.

did you speak with admissions at the school to see what can be improved on your application?

If you are reapplying, you should change your PS. Highlight the changes you made in the last year and how they are serve as motivation to pursue dentistry as a career. I have a different opinion of the PS you submitted so you plenty you can change. (If you argue you had the same discipline studying for the DAT as you did with weightlifting, why did you get the result you did?)

How many hours did you spend observing general dentistry vs. specialty dentistry? It's not obvious from the description...

Did you get an interview last cycle?
