I don't really know how to gauge what type of applicant I am and what schools I should be applying to besides my state school(s) and home institution. Any advice there? Also I know I am lacking clinical volunteering which I hope to gain during my gap year, but I don't know if it will appear on my application I suppose. Currently volunteering at local food bank.

Where is your state of residence ? The volunteering experience registering homeless does not appear to be a clinical experience. How many hours do you have in the hospital ?

@Faha WI/IL. Around 40, worked 4 hrs a week and would like to continue that in gap year.
@Mr.Smile12 Not someone who is solely a PCP, but I have shadowed doctors working in that capacity. In my clinical volunteering at the hospital typical rounding volunteer activities such as greeting patients and fulfilling small requests, and I think the second activity I listed there may not be clinical, my bad.
