Welcome to the forums.

What is your purpose as a physician? What do you expect of yourself in the role of a doctor (or before you graduate from medical schoo
For me, the purpose of being a physician is to help people through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. It’s not just about diagnosing and treating disease, but about listening, explaining things clearly, and being someone patients can trust when they’re scared or uncertain. I want to use science and critical thinking to make good decisions, but also stay human in the process. My end goal is to become a doctor that patients can relate to and not view as a figure of authority.

Why did you choose medicine and not some other field where you can help others, such as nursing, physical therapy, pharmacology, psychology, education, or social work? (UCF secondary essay)

Your low non clinical volunteering hours (only 20 at the food bank) will limit your chances for interviews. Accumulate another 130+ hours at the food bank before you submit your application since some schools screen at 150 hours. You also need another 20+ hours of in person physician shadowing since online shadowing has minimal value.

If I am able to complete this before May, is it realistic to apply? What schools would I have a chance at? Also, do my hours at the gym not count?

You need the hours before you apply. Working at a gym is not what medical schools are looking for non clinical volunteering. I suggest these schools if you accumulate those hours of shadowing and non clinical volunteering:

USF Morsani
