I'm not one to go on forums because I don't find them the most encouraging lol (idk how everyone on here has like a thousand hours of everything), but I wanted to seek advice on where I should start with curating my school list since I'm not super confident on my extracurriculars (esp research), especially after scrolling through others on here. There's just a lot of anxiety and self-confidence issues surrounding this upcoming cycle, so any feedback is much appreciated!

Background
- 3.97 cGPA, 3.973 sGPA
- 521/520 on latest practice exams with 1 month to go (median scores around 129 for each section)
- CA resident at T-30 private california university
- human bio major with theater minor

Clinical Experience
- 80 hours hospital volunteering (100+ upcoming)
- ~500 hours working both front and back office at my mom's dental clinic
- 100+ scribe hours upcoming
- my research also involves assisting with nursing procedures on subjects

Significant Non Clinical experience
- 150 hours as a discussion leader for pre-med courses (stats, biochem)
- 200 hours crisis text line
- 150 hours at a local food pantry
- 200 hours as a private tutor

Research
- 150 hours at a clinical diabetes lab
- no posters, publications, etc.

Shadowing
- 30 hours at a pediatrician (more hours with other specialties upcoming)

Misc
- executive board positions for 2 clubs
- part of another club that provides menstrual products to under-resourced communities

The only schools I've picked out so far are mostly state schools since I really don't know where to begin.

Hofstra
USC
UC's (LA, San Diego, Davis)
Lower tier schools that I haven't researched yet

And you have almost a 4.0 GPA, projecting a 520+ MCAT??? 🙂 you have a lot of activities that are projected. Why is that?

Would it disappoint you that working in your mom's dental clinic isn't favorable to your application?

Also what is your purpose to be a physician? I don't see anything that really helps you stand out. Is there a reason why you are looking at lower tier schools?

Post your actual MCAT score here when available and I will suggest schools. You need another 20 hours of physician shadowing and 100+ hours of clinical volunteering before you apply.
