Hello everyone! I am reapplying for the first time this cycle and was hoping to get some feedback on my application and some school list suggestions. This past cycle I applied to 7 schools, received 1 II to an in-state MD's, and was waitlisted. I finished my secondary applications in September since I had to take the MCAT late in the cycle. Since applying last time, I have done the following:
1) Worked as scribe for about 6 months, increasing my paid clinical hours by 374
2) Continued research with an abstract just submitted recently for a poster presentation at conference (80 hours)
3) Started research in lab (50 hours)
4) Increased my non-clinical volunteer hours by about 320 hours
5) Shadowed for another 30 hours

Background:
FL resident, 23 y/o M, 1/2 white 1/2 hispanic, graduated 2023 BS in Biomedical Engineering from public state school
Undergrad GPA: cgpa 3.27, sgpa 3.47
Graduate GPA: cgpa 4.0, sgpa 4.0 (20 credits)
MCAT: 512 (129/124/130/129)

Clinical (paid): 374 hours as UC Scribe.
Volunteering (Clinical): 120 hours at pediatric hospital
Shadowing: 64 hours w/ anesthesiologists and surgeons

Volunteering (Non-Clinical): 190 hours with Red Cross, 375 hours helping through Church (including delivering food and toys, making sandwiches, etc. for the less fortunate.)
Research: 50 hours (240 anticipated) in nanotechnology and neuropharmacology lab, 1 publication to be sent this month (mid-author); 100 hours (100 anticipated) social science/ academic research w/ abstract submitted for poster presentation at conference; 400 hours for Senior Design Project

Honors/Awards: Bright Futures FAS, Partial Scholarship, Dean’s List (1 semester)

Other - Business owner (headphones for people w/ impaired hearing)

Research: 1000 neuropharmacology lab in college, 1 pub (mid-author), 2 posters, 2nd place poster award

Big focus on empathetic care and service.

LORs (Committee Letter Packet - 1 Letter Packet from Post Bacc Program, 2 science from Post Bacc Professors, 1 nonscience from Undergrad Professor, 1 nonscience from senior design project advisor, 1 letter from Lab PI)
Leadership: Church Youth Group Leader, Alumni Senior Design Project Mentor, Undergrad Club Board Member

I know my undergrad GPA is the main thing holding me back. I'm hoping my higher sgpa and graduate gpa can help make a case for admissions, but definitely feel like I would be in the reinvention category. Already sent in the primary application this past week.

What feedback have you gotten from your postbac advisors?
Hi! Luckily, I had good relationships with my postbacc advisiors and met with them often throughout the program. They mainly suggested trying to get a 515+ on the MCAT (which I didn't sadly) and getting more clinical hours when I spoke with both of them prior to last cycle. This new cycle I asked one of them to review my app and they felt it was pretty strong, but didn't say much more outside of that.

Hi! Yes I'm fluent in spanish. As for ties, I was born there and lived there for about 1-2 years. Half my family also lives there so visit there often.
Those are not strong enough ties for medical school admission to a state public school in South Carolina.
