Hi everyone! I was wondering what my chances would be/if I should get rid of or add schools to my current list. I want to be as realistic as possible, and I fear my list may be too top heavy (I scored 4 points less than my retake FL average).

cGPA/sGPA: 3.3/3.2 (upward trend, issues due to covid)
Masters (SMP at T40): 3.8 (+masters thesis)

MCAT: 507 (129/122/128/128), 513 (130, 125, 130, 128)

Missouri Resident

Ethnicity: African-American Female

Attended a prestigious private institution

Clinical: 650 hours medical scribe + 1850 CRC

Research: 800 hours as a research assistant at MGH, 1 pub in a high impact journal

Non-Clinical: AmeriCorps vista (960 hrs- volunteering), Peer tutor (400 hr)

Other EC: Nonprofit co-founder (100), President of EC (400), events coordinator of black student union (150 hr), Non-profit member (published a poetry album, approx 200hr), Mentor and assistant coach (800 hrs), SA prevention committee member (50 hr), DE&I committee member (50 hr)

**Strong recs/committee letter and good writing/story

Current List (are these realistic?):
Georgetown
U Michigan
UNC
OSU
Rush
ULCA Drew
U of Cincinnati
UMKC
SLU
WashU (far reach)
Northwestern
Emory
Case Western

Any help would be extremely appreciated!!!!! 🙂

What do your SMP advisors suggest?

I'd put in all of your HBCU's (add Morehouse and Meharry). But I don't think your list is terribly far off. I would be wary of many public schools where you would be OOS (so make sure about Illinois, UNC, and UMKC). Are you connected with SNMA/MAPS?

If you are serious about Chicago, I'd add Loyola and UChicago. I would strike WashU. (My opinions.) The rest all depend on mission fit.

Thank you for your help!!!! My SMP advisors gave me guidance to stay within a certain range of my MCAT. They also suggested a few schools. I am not connected with any SNMA/MAPS, unfortunately. I will add the other HBCUs into the mix. I would like to be in Chicago, but if it doesn't happen, that's fine too!

I will double check mission fit! Do you have any advice? I feel as if some mission statements are similar (i.e. service, diversity). How do I better narrow down if I fit their mission?

I suggest these schools with your stats:
