Hello all, I need help with my school list.
Need help with my school list, honestly I am only applying MD because 1. money and 2. I don't want to get accepted to a DO school without full confirmation that I would accept the offer. Current School List:
2. Wayne State
3. Michigan State
4. Oakland University WB
5. Western Michigan
6. Central Michigan
7. Linda Loma???
8. MCW
Kinda low stat wise for other Jesuit schools.
I have MSAR but let me know what schools you guys would recommend for me
What schools can I add/take off?
- cGPA: 3.73 (3.91 my last 75 credits in classes like gen chem 1/gen chem 2, orgo 1, orgo 2, biochem, human phys, physics 2)
- sGPA: 3.62
- MCAT 1st attempt: (APRIL '24 495: 122/122/126/125) 2nd attempt: (JUNE '24 501: 126/125/124/127) 3rd attempt: (MAY '25 504: 125/127/124/128)
- State: MI
- Ethnicity: Catholic Male, ORM, Arabic speaker, Parents from Iraq, born in USA (MI)
- Undergrad: Mid-tier MI school
- Clinical experience:
- 5025 hours of paid clinical work as a medical assistant/lead surgical assistant
- 1500 projected, same job.
- Research experience and productivity:
- Undergraduate research (1250 hours, 1 first author poster at international conference, nueroscience )
- Shadowing experience and specialties represented:
- Radiology- 25 hours
- Internal medicine 50 hours
- Non-Clinical Volunteering:
- 1800 hours (400 more projected) youth group leader for a middle school boys program at my church
- 515 hours (60 hours more projected) Soup kitchen type work but slightly more individualized, big holidays, focused on underserved population.
- 350 hours ( 50 more projected) handing out meals and clothes to under served communities on big holidays at a restaurant in a neighboring city.
- 175 hours, 50 more projected Server of the mass/eucharistic minister at my church
- Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc)
- Became a tennis coach in the last year
- Anything else not listed you think might be important:
- Letter of Rec current stash:
- STRONG LOR from respected Dr. I work for
- LOR from PI (teaches at the medical school of my undergrad insitution)
- LOR from science professor
- LOR from 1800 hour non clinical volunteer position.
