Hi all (long time lurker), just got verified and going to add the rest of my schools tonight. Currently taking a gap year after recently graduating. I have also taken CASPER (no score yet) and don’t want to take PREview. Have prewritten about 1/2 of this list as well, so I can definitely add more schools. Not applying DO.

  1. 3.86 cGPA, 3.81 sGPA (slightly upward? 3.6 FR/SO -> 4.0 JR/SR)
  2. 515 (129/127/129/130)
  3. Can claim multiple states (MD/DE) but applying from/only really MD (No DE state school rip)
  4. ORM
  5. Large public research undergrad
  6. 550 hours patient transporter, another 100 hospital volunteering
  7. 1000+ hours historical research (very unique/also a hobby), 1100 hours wet lab (across 2 labs), 1 preprint
  8. 45 or so hours primary care shadowing
  9. 300 hours in religious setting
  10. Lots of TAing, working as MA in gap year
  11. Couple of research scholarships while an undergraduate
  12. Willing to go anywhere in the US. Also, have 1200+ hours in restaurant job and fraternity leadership experience.

My current school list is: Penn State, Albany/NYMC, USUHS, Wake Forest, Wayne State, Drexel, West Virginia, Tulane, Temple Virginia Tech, Geisinger, George Washington, Jefferson, VCU, Cincinnati, Florida, Maryland, Miami, Ohio State, Rutgers, UNC, Dartmouth, Emory, Tufts, Brown, Einstein, Michigan, Pitt, USC, Stony Brook, Dartmouth

Thank you in advance!

Do you have any non clinical volunteering and if so what is the nature of your non clinical volunteering and how many hours?

350 hours of various community stuff-food banks, cleaning streams in the neighborhood, etc through fraternity.

You should have 150 hours of service orientation activities, so if you have 150 already completed with your food distribution work, your application will likely avoid getting screened out. Other activities include shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, legal support, transportation services, and housing rehabilitation.

That said, while I know you want to go to any school that takes you, your profile doesn't offer me a reason to interview you. What is your purpose as a physician?

What do you mean exactly when you say this? Like a commitment for a certain community?

My volunteering and clinical work was mostly done in underserved communities/healthcare deserts and dealing with lots of uninsured patients. Somewhat of a theme of my application as well, just did not express it well in original post. Also, biomedical research dealt with conditions associated with poverty (think diabetes/hypertension/etc).
