Hi! I graduated from undergrad this past May and am looking for advice on improving my application and adjusting my school list for the 2026 cycle. 22F ORM

2nd attempt: 515 (130/126/129/130)

NC resident
Very strong ties to ND

Undergraduate institution
UMN - TC (Biology degree)

Clinical experience (~1490 hours)
600 hours - CNA in Cardiology
290 hours - Meal time assistant at a nursing home
600 more hours expected by application from current jobs as CNA in ICU and Medical Assistant at a dermatology clinic

Research experience
400 hours - Volunteer research in children’s health promotion through physical activity and contemplative practices in school-age kids.
450 hours - paid pre-clinical medical device research on large animal models. Surgical lab setting, no publications

Shadowing experience
60 hours total (Pediatrics, Interventional Cardiology, Infectious Disease, General Surgery, Endocrinology, and Heme/Onc)

Non-clinical volunteering
620 hours - Ronald McDonald House Charities - after-school leader and teaching assistant
Beginning to volunteer at a local food bank and literacy program for children

Other extracurricular activities
1400 hours - competitive dance team club (dancer and manager)
470 hours - cultural club (marketing manager, then Co-President)

LORs: 1 science professor, PI from lab, RN manager from CNA job, 1 non-science professor, MD at derm clinic. I could probably get another science professor LOR but it would most likely be very basic.

If you say "very strong ties" to North Dakota, are you just in NC as a post-college resident? Is there a reason you didn't want to go to UND?

Residency Eligibility | Med School

UND's School of Medicine gives admissions preference to North Dakota residents or those with strong ND ties. There are criteria for former ND residents, Red River Valley MN applicants, INMED, WICHE, and military-affiliates.

That's correct, I'm living in NC post-grad. I would not be opposed to going to UND, but I would like to apply to multiple schools to cast a wide net.
