Hi all! I'm applying this upcoming cycle to both MD and DO schools, and plan to apply to 35 schools. I'm having trouble narrowing down my current list. Advice? Also, if you don't see a school on here that you think should be, please let me know. Thank you!!!
About Me:
* NY resident, ORM, 3 gap years
* BS in neuroscience with writing minor. 3.49 cGPA and 3.28 sGPA. Significant upward trend.
* 509 MCAT (126/124/130/129)
* Will answer "yes" to AMCAS's Other Impactful Experiences / Self-Reported Disadvantaged Status question: Caretaker of sibling for \~5 years
* Undergrad and post-grad research in social and behavioral sciences = 750 hours
* Majority of my time during undergrad in volunteering: community service, harm reduction, and philanthropy (1750+ hours).
* I work full-time on-site at a prestigious hospital as a senior clinical case manager (4000 hours; 2000 projected). I commute \~4 hours via public transportation 5 days a week, and will not move closer to work because of my caretaker role.
* Currently on 2 research projects at my job. Social psychological research. Will be first author on one. Completed 300 hours, 650 more anticipated with 1 publication and 1 presentation
* \~80 hours shadowing; 60 hours MD and 20 hours DO
* STRONG LORs. 5 total: 1 MD from work (my boss); 1 MD from shadowing; my undergrad PI; my bio professor who I TA'ed for; my thesis advisor for my minor
* Recently started (20 hours current; 150 projected) a position volunteering at a harm reduction center helping with services such as providing safer sex kits, facilitating syringe exchange, and teaching about drug overdose prevention methods.
