  1. cGPA: 3.06 sGPA: 2.70 smpGPA: 3.85
  2. MCAT: 502 (April 2024), still waiting on retake score (507, 508, 508, 512 FL scores)
  3. State: New York

I understand it's not ideal that I'm posting this without my new MCAT score yet but I'm trying to pre-write as many secondaries as possible and want to get a realistic picture of where I should aim for until then if my practice scores are representative. I am working on my AACOMAS application as well but am not very knowledgable about DO schools or how to determine which ones I should apply to. Best case scenario is an MD school on the east coast near home in NY but I understand that my grades do not grant me the pick of the litter. I do qualify for fee assistance program so I've got 20 free schools.

Current school list (MD):
  1. SUNY Upstate
  2. SUNY Downstate
  3. Buffalo
  4. Albany
  5. NYMC
  6. Stony Brook
  7. Robert Wood Johnson (interviewed last cycle via SMP linkage application and was waitlisted)
  8. Quinnipiac
  9. Temple
  10. Drexel
  11. Rosalind Franklin
  12. EVMS
  13. Loyola
  14. Wayne State
  15. Geisinger
  16. Tufts
  17. Hackensack
  18. WVU
  19. Wayne State
  20. George Washington
  21. (...)

It's impossible to deal with hypotheticals, so come back when you have an actual MCAT score and then we can advise properly.

Congrats on the great job of reinvention at the s&p!

Congratulations on your SMP. Hopefully they can guide and support you in your upcoming application.

Have they commented about your lack of service orientation activities? Although tutoring is your primary expression of community service, it is an academic competency, even with your refugee or incarcerated students. Did you do anything while in your SMP that helped communities (food distribution, shelter volunteer, job/tax preparation, transportation services, housing rehabilitation)?

When will you get your MCAT score?
You need more shadowing? Find a primary care doc to shadow. You only need 50 hours total.
Take Loyola off your list. You don’t have the service hours they expect from their applicants.
It’s really silly to write secondaries until you have your MCAT score. Hope you do well.

They didn't make any such comment. And yes, one of my experiences during my SMP (and currently) is at a food pantry and involves helping distribute items to clients

I'll have it in late August. I figured it'd be worth pre-writing them for my state MD schools at the very least
