Engineering undergrad, graduated in 2017. Currently working full time in the military. I am a Florida resident.
Engineering + ROTC kicked my butt early on and I had two semesters with a GPA below 3.0. After that I steadily improved and was on the Dean's List my last two semesters. AACOMAS and AMCAS calculate science GPA differently, so there is a bit of a discrepancy in my GPA's between the two of them.
cGPA = 3.4
AACOMAS sGPA = ~3.5
AMCAS sGPA = ~3.2
DIY Post Bacc GPA = 3.6
I got a 519 on my MCAT. I am an EMT and an EMT instructor. I have several hundred hours of volunteering, both as an EMT at a free clinic and at other organizations helping wounded veterans. I have letters of recommendation from a physician I work closely with for my real job, my supervisor for my EMT instructor gig, my biochem professor, and my organic chemistry professor.
My dream school is Georgetown University. I love the DC area and Georgetown's mission as a Jesuit school deeply resonates with me. My second choice after Georgetown is Loyola (Chicago), again, because of my attachment to the Jesuit/Ignatian philosophy. However, I realize that with my low MD science GPA, MD schools are probably not realistic for me. If applying MD is a total waste of time with my sGPA, let me know.
Open to suggestions for additions/deletions. I put almost all of the public FL schools on this simply because I am a resident, but I have no intention or desire to stay in FL long term. I am only a resident because I am stationed here, I'm not attached to the state at all.
