Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am writing to ask for some advice. I was a gymnastics coach for over a decade in my life and chose to go the medical school path, like many of you, after completing my bachelor's in psychology and sociology. (I did most of my premed courses at a community college btw).

As the only person in my family applying to medical school, I feel a little bit over my head and overwhelmed at times during the process. Considering this, I am not sure how to create a medical school list. I will post my stats below, so please let me know your thoughts on which schools I should apply to.

Demographics:
-Black URM (female) from NY

STATS (besides GPA):
- MCAT: (not official yet, but): 513 (Avg)

- clinical hours: around 300 hours (as of now, trying to get more) (volunteer plus suicide prevention)

-non-clinical: (besides gymnastics, I volunteered at a foodbank, educational program, and crisis line and mental health club on campus): +3,000 hours

-research: (a lot of global health, plus neuroscience, plus anatomy): 2,000 hours

-shadowing: 30 hours (also trying to get more)

-Honours: Dean's list all years in college

Side note: I am interested in pediatrics

Welcome to the forums.

Why are you pivoting to medicine? Can you highlight your experiences over the last 2 years? If college was over 10 years ago, your CC coursework would be a more important measure of your academic preparation. What was your graduate coursework about?

Without an actual mcat score, all responses will be meaningless.
