I would like to get a review of my application and see what my chances of getting into schools aimed towards social justice. I'm aiming to take one gap year (more like application year) and I'm going into my junior year.
  1. cGPA - 3.70, sGPA - 3.50 (also withdrawed from ochem and retook it)
  2. MCAT score - 515 (128/128/129/131)
  3. State of residence - VA
  4. Asian Female
  5. Undergraduate institution or category - neuroscience at public state university
  6. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer) - 240 hours paid clinical work at brain injury rehab facility and 120 hours+ ongoing volunteer EMT at rescue squad (will see an increase in hours throughout the year)
  7. Research experience and productivity - 120 hours research at computational cancer lab (1 publication as 2nd author), 50+ hours ongoing at EEG lab as undergrad research (will see an increase in hours throughout the year)
  8. Shadowing experience and specialties represented - 16 hours in pathology, 16 hours in primary care internal medicine, 16 hours in primary care sports medicine (planning to find psychiatrist to shadow)
  9. Non-clinical volunteering - vice president of a club that teaches CPR to underserved communities (100 hours+ will increase during the year), climate lobbying, hoping to become a CASA volunteer
  10. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc) - Undergraduate student senate and student council, college tutor lead, part of campus program for remediation and advocacy for reducing substance abuse
I will be applying in Spring 2026 so I was wondering what I can do now to improve my chances. I also don't have a solid school list and would appreciate help for finding schools that are social justice aimed and accept people with my low stats.

I'm currently a part of this campus program where we educate college students through outreach and prevention programs, classroom presentations and media campaigns about substance abuse to help with the big party culture at my school. I also do climate lobbying and am part of a club where I go and teach underserved communities CPR. Starting spring, I'm planning on becoming a court appointed special advocate in my local area.
