Hey y'all I posted this on reddit, no replies so I'll paste it here. A little background, community college for 2 years (HCC) to Texas A&M, 1st time applicant, URM.
  • State/Country of Residence: Texas
  • Ties to other States/Regions: Missouri (Birth to age 14)
  • Year in School: Graduated B.S. May 2019
  • Undergraduate Major(s)/Minor(s): Biomedical Science
  • Graduate Degrees (if applicable): N/A
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.69
  • Science GPA: 3.73
  • MCAT Score(s): 8/2/19: 504 (126/125/126/127), 3/14/20: 506 (128/123/129/126)
  • Research Experience: Nothing major, had an entomology group research project (idk if this counts)
  • Publications/Abstracts/Posters (include how you were credited e.g. First author, second author, etc.): The paper from this project will be publish later this year in a journal of student research for my school (once again idk if this counts lol)
  • Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer): 100 in hospital (volunteer), 50 home health caregiver (paid)
  • Physician Shadowing: 200 (one nephrologist in clinic, hospital, and dialysis centers)
  • Non-Clinical Volunteering: ~250 (various activities like food pantries, youth basketball referee, youth group leader at church, plus other misc. activities)
  • Other Extracurricular Activities: African Student Association Dance Team (2 years), Cooking/Baking, Violin, IM Basketball, Soccer, Sand volleyball
  • Other Employment History: Academy Sports & Outdoors (2.5 years), Super Bowl Event Security (1 month), Food delivery (1 year), Home health company (mainly in office in an administrative role, but still visited patient’s for non-skilled admissions and supervisory visits)

LSU accepts few non residents with no connection to the state. Consider adding any of these schools:

isnt northeast ohio mostly for instate students ?
They are a school that is very actively trying to expand their underrepresented in medicine population. They recently created a program specifically aimed at this. I was also accepted as an out of state student with very similar stats.
