  1. Pre-Medical
  1. cGPA ~ 3.4 | sGPA ~ 3.3
  2. MCAT score - 495 (122/123/125/125)
  3. WA state
  4. Asian - ORM (but SES, if that matters)
  5. Small private undergrad
  6. Clinical - ~10k hours
  7. Research - ~3800 hours (5 pubs pending, but not 1st/2nd author)
  8. Shadowing - ~50 hours across FM, ortho (mostly relied on scribing as "shadowing")
  9. Non-clinical volunteering - ~900 hours
  10. Non-trad (29 y/o)
  11. Relevant honors or awards - Dean's List
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important
    • Personal assistant to an undergrad student with 2 traumatic brain injuries (tutored, mentored, etc) - 2100 hours
    • Tutored English to international students applying to universities - 1200 hours
    • Co-started a club at university
    • Lab/TA for my major for my graduating class (~15 students) - 600 hours
    • Worked all 5 years of undergrad (25+ hours/week)

Realistic options please. I know my 495 MCAT is making it tough.. I'll be ok going to any DO school.

Would you be okay going to podiatry? That's your best option with that MCAT score. Just need some podiatry shadowing.
Do you think I’d be able to retake in January to have a reasonable shot this cycle? Assuming I can get 503+

500+ MCAT puts you "in game" at several DO schools, especially new and/or branch campuses. You need to already be on some school's radar with a chance to update your app with a January re-take, but you should plan on next cycle in all likelihood, especially with low MCAT coupled to low GPA.

You don't have a realistic shot at medical school with a 495. A January retake would also be too late to amount to anything in all likelihood. You should start studying with plans to reapply with an improved score ready to go by next cycle.

you can explore the masters program at PNWU in yakima, WA. if you do well I hear they will give you a very strong shot at their DO program. That way you don't need to retake the MCAT.

Nope, as Jan is too late int he DO cycle. Heck, someone who has just received an II from LECOM has to wait until early spring for their interview.

You're in a marathon now, not a sprint, and med schools aren't' going anywhere.
