Should he apply this coming cycle? What should his school list be? What are his chances?
His reason for choosing medicine:
My friend is strongly drawn to a career in medicine, influenced by a childhood medical experience that, despite initial nervousness, left a lasting positive impact. Witnessing disparities in healthcare access, particularly in underserved urban populations, has fueled his determination to bridge these gaps and provide medical literacy. His commitment to serving the underserved stems from a personal encounter with a negative healthcare experience related to his background. This firsthand experience made him want to advocate for equitable healthcare, emphasizing the importance of cultural competence and understanding diverse patient needs. He wants to ensure that individuals from all backgrounds receive quality care and foster health literacy in underserved communities.
