Hey everyone, I'm looking for some help with my school list.
cGPA: 3.578
sGPA: 3.27
MCAT: 520 (CP:130, CARS:129, BIO:130, PSY/SOC:131) - Only took once.
Residency: Current: WV, grew up in MD, strong ties in NY
Race: Asian
Undergrad: WVU, Marketing and Statistics
Clinical:
1000 Hrs paid nursing assistant
1200 Hrs volunteer EMT
Research: 950 Hours across 3 labs in different disciplines. Couple of research posters, currently working on a first author publication that we plan to submit in the next few months
Shadowing: 38 Hours total, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology. Family medicine was in a very busy clinic and anesthesia was in a hospital.
Non Clinical Volunteering: 700 Hours. Modeling and number crunching for an EMS company serving my county, helping them optimize operations to improve coverage and lower response times.
Extracurriculars: TA/Mentor for freshman seminar, Officer in a club focused on adventure sports, responsible for teaching technical skills. I teach a workshop series every semester for this club with close to 40 hours of instruction time. Chair of a student committee. For one of my hobbies I put down working on cars.
Professional: Over 6000 Hrs at one job over a few years after I left school, working in manufacturing for something healthcare related. 3000 Hrs on my own art focused business which I closed up. Over 1000 hours as a cook and trainer in a restaurant.
Reinventor: I left college after a year due to money and grades. Year 1 GPA was something abysmal, like .27 or something. Left, worked for a few years, and went back to school. Have had all A's ever since. I've taken all the pre reqs.
School List:
I've got a fee waiver and have set aside some money, so I am willing to apply to every MD program that it would make sense to apply to. My current criteria was eliminating schools that don't like out of staters. I also eliminated all schools in Texas. I left in California and NY schools regardless of OOS preference because I have family in both of those states and have spent significant time in both states, so maybe I can swing a connection. However, I understand that applying to a crazy amount of schools may be an unrealistic amount of work, so I want to cut the list down, while leaving in every "safety" school. My goal is to get into an MD program and avoid a gap year. I would also like to shoot as high as possible even if my chances are slim. Here is the current list, I would appreciate some direction:
